Chef Stephen's culinary journey has spanned decades across both hemispheres of the globe. His adoption of boutique catering—creating custom menus and experiences for clients—is only befitting given his background and knowledge.
A cultural and food anthropologist, linguist, educator, and restaurant consultant, he embarked on his chef path as a plongeur while a young teen, a position that swiftly progressed to chef de partie. At the uncommonly young age of nineteen he had risen to sous chef at the same high-end restaurant that initially recognized him as a culinary prodigy. His food journey only expanded from there.
After obtaining graduate education followed by years of teaching language and linguistics in higher education, he returned to his first passion as a chef and began Northwoods Catering.
Chef Stephen's foremost passion is for the people he is privileged to serve unforgettably. In his free time, Chef Stephen enjoys spending time with his wife and family, training service dogs, fishing, reading and writing, and theater acting.
